Before you proceed to read this article (part 2), ensure that you first read the part 1, so that you can flow with the thoughts of the study.

Still in the deliberate category of sin, we have A deliberate or intentional practice of lawlessness. Let's take a look at this:

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." - Matthew 7 vs 21 - 23 {King James Version}

  • And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity

The word 'work' as used in the verse is rendered as ergazomai in the original language (Greek), which means, To be engaged in or To be engaged with. It also means To labor for—to labor for something. It also means To toil (as a task, occupation). So that word 'work' used in the verse implies To practice, or To make a practice of. Now, to practice something connotes deliberateness. To make a practice of something means that you are deliberate about that thing! - Think on this. John the Apostle says this:

"Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." - 1 John 3 vs 9 {KJV}

  • Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin

That word 'commit' is synonymous with the word 'work' which we saw in the previous verse, it means To practice or To make a practice of. So John says, Whosoever is born of God does not practice sin, he does not make a practice of sin. Meaning, he does not commit sin deliberately!

So you see, the deliberate category of sin marks the unbeliever! Whether it be a rejection of the Gospel or a deliberate practice of sin, that's the mark of an unbeliever! A Believer has accepted the Gospel! A Believer does not deliberately practice sin! You get it... Yea! This is the reason why the Lord rejected those guys—because, even though they called Him Lord Lord, they really did not believe the Gospel! If they truly believed the Gospel, they wouldn't have been workers of iniquity (deliberate practice of lawlessness)!

"And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." - Matthew 7 vs 23 {KJV}

You get it? Ya! So the first category of sin as we have studied, which is A deliberate or intentional practice of lawlessness, is a category solely for the unbeliever!
